It Was a Very Long And Soggy Winter!
The long wet winter is finally behind us along with the most difficult time of year for fresh produce.
With the arrival of May things begin to change for the better rapidly. Warmer weather with less rain helps plants to thrive. We are now seeing fresh California Asparagus and Strawberries coming in to good supply. Broccoli, Lettuce and Cauliflower are enjoying the weather as well. More supply brings us higher quality at lower prices! Remember, it is not only the current weather that affects produce prices and availability. It could be the weather we had six weeks ago, if say plantings were missed or even destroyed by storms. Things do tend to recover quickly with longer, warmer days though.
Early in the month of May we will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo, a celebration that takes place mainly here in The United States commemorates The Battle of Puebla in which The Mexican Army defeated the French on May 5th 1862.
Any Cinco de Mayo celebration, of course involves a lot of fresh produce. Avocados, Cilantro, Fresh Peppers, Onions and Tomatoes are all a must.
You will find the freshest all organic produce available at both of our locations throughout the month of May!
