Summer in to Fall

August 15, 2017

After getting off to a very slow start due to the late rains, local produce is finally becoming more abundant. The hope now is that we will have a great fall season. Local lettuce has been sporadic, but should improve - local tomatoes are on strong! Slicer tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and romas are here now! We are just beginning to see the first local peppers, both sweet and hot varieties.

Summer fruits, peaches, nectarines and plums are in season now along with berries, grapes and melons. We have a great variety of seasonal melons, cantaloupe, honeydew, both green and gold, gala, ambrosia, sharlyn, just to name a few. We are just now receiving some of our first local melons, supplies should increase into September. How long these seasons last is totally dependent on weather.

New crop California Bartlett pears are in along with new crop Gala Apples. This is just the beginning of domestic apple and pear season.

This is the best time of year for fresh organic produce-come in to Eureka Natural Foods today and share in the abundance!
